Because of recent changes in the way Hockey Canada is mandating how police checks are handled and the rostering of coaches, Rotary Hockey now requires more a bit more information from our coaches so they can get properly setup within the Hockey Canada system.
Starting this season. we now require coaches and volunteers to fill out a form/application that will give us all the information we require to get each coach set up in the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) & Hockey Canada system. If you haven’t filled out this form already, please visit the link below and fill out this form as soon as possible. It only takes a few minutes.
2024-2025 Coach / Volunteer Application (Stratford Rotary Hockey League)
Additionally, a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) police check is required for all coaches and volunteers. Many coaches have submitted your VSC to Rotary Hockey in previous seasons. However, starting this season and going forward, the OHF & Hockey Canada will be overseeing the collection and review of all police checks. This process will require coaches to upload a copy of their VSC dated Oct 1, 2022 or later to the Hockey Canada database. Instructions on how to do this are below. It is a bit of a complicated process. If you need assistance with this, we can definitely help. If you do not have a copy of an older police check that you submitted to Rotary, please let us know and we can send it to you.
If you haven’t obtained a VSC police check for Rotary Hockey or you have one dated before October 1, 2022, please apply for one asap. For those living in Stratford, you can apply at this link - https://www.policesolutions.ca/checks/services/stratford/index.php?page=pvsc. For those outside the city living in OPP territory, you can apply at this link - https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id=147&lng=en . For those outside the city in a non OPP territory, please contact your local police department. Rotary Hockey will re-imburse you for the cost to obtain your police check – please get a receipt when you apply.
Police checks are good for 3 seasons from the date there are produced. For the 2 seasons after your police check has been submitted, you will be required to submit a declaration that your criminal record has not changed since your last submitted check. We require all coaches to be registered in the Hockey Canada system with an approved background check before November 15, 2024. As of right now, OPP VSC checks are taking 4-6 weeks to process, so please get this done right away.
