I'm registered - Now what?
Welcome to the Rotary Hockey Family,

So... you're registered for hockey... but now what?

We have made a couple changes to our processes, so even if you are a regular player, please take a moment to read all of the information provided here.

REALIGNMENT OF AGE DIVISIONS:

We wanted to share a quick update to our league divisions for the upcoming season! Based on registration numbers, we’ve made an adjustment to ensure all players have the best possible experience on the ice. This year, some divisions will include three birth years instead of two.

Specifically, we will now have a U13 division (2013, 2014, 2015 birth years) and a U16 division (2010, 2011, 2012 birth years) rather than the U12, U14, and U16 divisions that we had in recent years. These changes will allow for 8 teams per division and will provide balanced competition and full, fun seasons for all players, and we think this will make for a great season! All other divisions (U6, U8, U10, and U20) will remain unchanged.

The U13 division will operate with the same rules that the U12 division had in prior years and will be included in the evaluation skate on Saturday Sep. 13th.

The U16 division will operate with the same rules that the U16 division had in prior years and teams will be decided by a coach’s draft as usual.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to [email protected].

Junior Evaluation Skate Sessions - Saturday September 13th

For players in the U8, U10 and the realigned U13 divisions (birthyears 2013 thru 2019), there will be a player evaluation skate on Saturday September 13th at the Rotary Recreation Complex.

We strongly encourage all players in these age groups to attend and take this opportunity to blow off some rust and show us what they can do. Full equipment is required. Click here for more info on required equipment: https://stratfordrotaryhockey.com/Pages/1525/Rules_For_Players/

This will give us the opportunity to evaluate each players' skills and abilities which in turn will help us try to make the teams as balanced as possible. Please attend the session according to the chart below:

The team selection committee will begin the task making up teams following the evaluation skates. Team lists will be distributed to coaches on September 23rd at the coaches meetings. Following those meetings, coaches will then reach out to the players on their team. They are expected to do so as soon as possible following these meetings - but by Monday September 29th at the latest.

The U6s (2020s & 2021s) and the older U16s and U20 players do not participate in Evaluation Skates. Teams for the U16 and U20 divisions are done via a player draft that will be held on September 18th. Please note that due to this format, special requests are nearly impossible to achieve. Exceptions are made for immediate family members only.

With the amount of work we put in to evaluating players (both at the evaluation skate and from last year's coaches) we do our best to make teams as balanced as possible. Due to the amount of time and effort put in to do this, please note that we rarely make player movements or trades between teams once the season has started. It is only done in when extenuating circumstances arise.

Start of 2025-2026 Season - The starts on October 1st, and the first day varies by team and age division. Your coach will give you information on your first scheduled ice times. All team schedules will be available on the website prior to this.

See you at the rink!
