You're registered for hockey - Now what??
Submitted By Jacques Laurin on Thu 09 15, 22
So... you've paid and registered for hockey... but now what?

If you're new to Rotary Hockey or haven't participated for a while, then we realize that you will have questions. We have made a couple changes to our process, so even if you are a regular player, things are going to be slightly different to start the season.

Evaluation Skate Sessions - Saturday October 1st
For players in the U8, U10 and U12 divisions (birthyears 2011 thru 2016), there will be a player evaluation skate on Saturday October 1st. U6s (2017s & 2018s) are not evaluated.  While attendance is not mandatory, everyone in these age groups is strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to blow off some rust and show us what they can do. This will give us an opportunity to evaluate each players' skills and abilities which in turn will help us try to make the teams as balanced as possible. Please attend the session according to the chart below:

Evaluation Skate Schedule
Age Division           Last Names         Arena                    Time
U8 (2015s & 2016s)

U8 (2015s & 2016s) H - O Rotary Rink B 10:15 - 11:15am

U10 (2013s & 2014s) A - G Rotary Rink A 8:00 - 9:00am
U10 (2013s & 2014s) H - O Rotary Rink A 9:00 - 10:00am
U10 (2013s & 2014s) P - Z Rotary Rink A 10:00 - 11:00am
U12 (2011s & 2012s) A - K Dufferin 9:00 - 10:00am
U12 (2011s & 2012s) L - Z Dufferin 10:00 - 11:00am

The team selection committee will begin the task making up teams following the evaluation skates. Team lists will be distributed to coaches on October 5th or 6th at the coaches meetings. Following those meetings, coaches will reach out to the players on their team. They are expected to do so as soon as possible following these meetings - but by Monday October 10th at the latest.

U14, U16 and U20 players do not participate in Evaluation Skates. Teams for the U14, U16 and U20 divisions are done via a player draft that will be held on October 6th. Please note that due to this format, special requests are nearly impossible to achieve. Exceptions are made for immediate family members.

Start of 2022-2023 Season - Saturday October 15th
The first ice time for all Rotary Hockey teams will be Saturday October 15th, except for the U20 division who will start on Sunday October 16th. Schedules for all teams will be available on the website in early October.

We are excited to see all those smiling faces back at the rink. If you are on Facebook, please follow us for additional news items and other announcements. All news articles are also shared on our Facebook account.
